Product Overview
The GCE BMU02F4-N Series is a high-voltage Battery Management Unit designed for large-scale energy storage systems, supporting up to 52 series-connected cells with comprehensive voltage and temperature monitoring. As the core component of distributed battery management architecture, this BMU delivers precise cell supervision, active equalization, and reliable CAN communication for seamless integration with rack and stack management systems.
Precision Monitoring & Active Balancing
Equipped with advanced AFE (Analog Front End) chips, the BMU02F4-N achieves ±5mV voltage measurement accuracy and ±2°C temperature accuracy across a -30°C to 100°C detection range. The integrated 3A active balancing function ensures all cells maintain consistent state-of-charge, significantly improving pack longevity and overall system efficiency. Active balancing actively transfers energy between cells rather than dissipating it as heat, making it far more efficient than passive balancing methods.
High-Voltage & Safety Compliance
Designed for demanding applications, the BMU supports operating voltages up to 1000VDC and features 2800VDC isolation rating (60s at 2mA), ensuring safe operation in high-voltage environments. The unit complies with industry safety standards, and all installation and maintenance procedures are designed with operator safety in mind.
Flexible Configuration & Scalability
The BMU02F4-N is available in multiple configurations:
  • Standard Models: 50S/32T and 52S/32T (series cells / temperature sensors)
  • Custom Options: Non-standard configurations from 40S to 48S available upon request
Each BMU integrates seamlessly with:
  • RBMS (Rack Battery Management System) - Cabinet-level management
  • SBMS (Stack Battery Management System) - System-level coordination
  • CAN 2.0B communication at 250kbps for reliable data exchange
Compact Design & Easy Installation
With dimensions of 377.4 × 137 × 36 mm (W×H×D), the BMU offers a space-efficient solution that can be embedded within battery modules or mounted externally. The unit includes:
  • 4× 32-pin acquisition harnesses (standard 900mm length)
  • 1× communication harness (standard 300mm length)
  • Standardized terminal connectors (A-M2200 series) for simplified wiring
Robust Environmental Tolerance
Built for real-world conditions, the BMU operates reliably in:
Parameter Operating Range Storage Range
Temperature -20°C to 60°C -20°C to 55°C
Humidity 5% to 75% RH ≤75% RH
Altitude Up to 2000m (indoor installation only)
Isolation 2800VDC/60s/2mA voltage resistance
Wiring & Connection Guide
The BMU uses four AFE acquisition units distributed across connectors J2~J5:
Connector Cells AFE Unit
J2 Cells 1-13 AFE #1
J3 Cells 14-26 AFE #2
J4 Cells 27-39 AFE #3
J5 Cells 40-52 AFE #4
Critical Wiring Rule: The battery voltage sampling wire and AFE chip power supply wire must use separate, independent harnesses - they cannot share the same conductor. Each AFE chip requires its own dedicated power supply harness.
Important Safety Instructions
  • Always connect battery-side wiring first before connecting to the BMU - never connect the BMU before securing voltage acquisition and temperature probe connections to the battery
  • Use insulated tools during installation, commissioning, and maintenance
  • Wear proper PPE: insulated rubber gloves, eye protection, and insulated rubber boots
  • If metallic debris falls into the battery during work, remove it with insulated tools immediately - never leave foreign matter inside
  • Follow wiring diagrams strictly to prevent circuit board damage
  • Avoid prolonged use in environments with: excessive temperature/humidity, strong vibration, direct sunlight, dust, corrosive substances, or flammable materials
Applications
  • Utility-scale energy storage systems
  • Commercial & industrial battery cabinets
  • High-voltage battery stacks (LFP/NMC chemistries)
  • Renewable energy integration (solar/wind storage)
  • Microgrid and peak-shaving systems
