GCE has developed a the high-voltage Battery Management System (BMS) to be used in large-scale energy storage systems and UPS applications. The architecture of the BMS is distributed and modular, providing ease of configuration, assembly, debugging and maintenance.
Additionally, the BMS is suitable for use in energy storage systems with DC voltage below 1000V.
The highly integrated battery management system in ABMS enables seamless monitoring and perfect self-test for operational status detection. It provides Human-machine interface (HMI) display so that users can view the system operation information at a glance. In addition, this system offers perfect and reliable system control and protection strategies to fully protect the battery safety and extend its lifespan.
The system supports a modular design and is configurable and scalable. Multiple energy storage units can be flexibly combined to expand into a larger energy storage system, and the maximum can support 272 (400 lead-carbon batteries). ABMS further provides rich communication interfaces such as multiple RS485, CAN, Ethernet, and dry contact inputs and ouputs, thus offering broad connectivity compatibilities. Moreover, it provides a flexible communication interface protocol that comes with the company's protocol, while being also able to adapt to PCS of different manufacturers according to customers' needs.
In addition, the system is integrated with large-capacity memory chips that can store a considerable amount of operational data. Meanwhile, users are able to install an external SD card for offline access. Depending on the needs of customers, there are two options. If the PCS has protocol control function, it is advised to select circuit breaker version. Otherwise, choosing contactor + breaker version is better. Lastly, by providing automatic circulation control and automatic parallel machine/off-line control, it is more convenient for battery to achieve parallel connection. (Model suffix selection D).
Basic Parameters include system operating voltage range, rated current, start-up method, and balancing type.
The operating voltage range is 120 to 370 VDC. Rated current is available in 50A and 100A. Start-up can be done through DC Start, and balancing type can be passively equalized through resistance. The balancing current is 100mA ±10mA (when the single cell voltage is 3.50V). Temperature sampling accuracy is ±2℃ and voltage sampling accuracy is ±20mV.
For communication, the system supports one CAN channel to communicate with PCS/UPS, and one RS485 channel to communicate with host computer/PCS/UPS. Additionally, the system features 6-digit LED indicator (including 1 for fault indication, 1 for running indication, and 4 for SOC power indication). Optional 3.5" display is available for HMI presentation.
Other features include short circuit protection of 7.5KA, 20ms and maximum overload capacity of 50A/10S (transients) and 100A/10S (transients). There are 1 level warning and 2 level protection. Power consumption is ≤10W and insulation withstand voltage is 1800VDC, 1mA, 1min. The system complies with CE standards and can be operated in ambient temperature of -20℃ to 60℃, and humidity of <90 RH (40℃±2℃).
